Bertha Margarite Anderson, 93, of Coffeyville passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at her home. She was born July 30, 1922, northwest of Coffeyville to Orville C. and Vivian (Coahran) Baker. She spent her early years on the family farm north of Dearing and began her education at Dearing School. Her family moved to California where she grew up and completed her education graduating from high school in Santa Monica, CA. She married V.G. "Jack" Miller; they had two sons, Doug and Dennis. Mr. Miller preceded her in death in 1966. While living in California she was employed by the Water District as a clerk. In 1969, she married Robert J. Anderson. They made their home in rural Coffeyville for several years. Mr. Anderson preceded her in death in 1999. Bertha was a member of the First Baptist Church, Salvation Army, V.F.W. and American Legion Auxiliaries, Loyal Workers E.H.U. for 25 years, and volunteered at the Brown Mansion and Dalton Museum. Her greatest love was spending time with her family. Survivors include her son, Doug Miller of Coffeyville, three grandchildren, five great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, one son, Dennis Miller; and two brothers, Norman Baker and James Baker. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at Fairview Cemetery Veterans Memorial Patio, with Chaplain Mike Graham of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials to the Salvation Army, American Legion Post #20, or Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
