Obituary of Dale Duane Howard

Dale Duane Howard, 95, of Coffeyville passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 18, 1920, at Wichita, KS to Carl Preston and Harriot Augusta "Etta" (Bigelow) Howard. Dale grew up and attended school in Wichita, graduating from Wichita East High School.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy from September 9, 1942, receiving his honorable discharge on November 16, 1945.
On March 26, 1942 he married Geraldine Marie Shigley at Wichita. Following their marriage they lived in the Wichita while Dale served in the Navy. After his discharge they moved to the Longton / Elk City, KS area until 1953 when they moved to their farm near Angola, KS where he farmed and worked as a machinist. In 1981 they moved to rural Coffeyville.
He attended the First United Methodist Church, and was a member of the National Farmers Organization, and Keystone Masonic Lodge #102 A.F. & A.M.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine of the home; four sons, Norman Howard and wife Kristi of Elgin, TX, Tom Howard and wife Donna of Caney, Rick Howard and wife Joanne of Independence, Jon Howard and wife Susan of Coffeyville; daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Howard of Parsons; brother, David N. Howard and wife Fonda of Hutchinson; twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Dale Owen Howard in 2003.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 8, 2016, at the Westside Christian Church in Coffeyville with Pastor Mike Elrod officiating. Burial will be in the Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville with Military Honors conducted by V.F. W. Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20, and Masonic Rites conducted by Keystone Masonic Lodge #102 A.F. & A.M.
Friends may call on Sunday, February 7, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to Keystone Masonic Lodge; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
