Obituary of Beth Elaine Sterk

Beth Elaine Sterk, 81, of Coffeyville passed Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. She was born August 28, 1934, at Coffeyville to Fred Alvin and Lenna Mae (Clayton) Burns. Elaine grew up and attended school in Coffeyville, graduating from Field Kindley High School and Coffeyville Community College. On November 28, 1962, she married James A. "Jim" Sterk at Miami, OK. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. Elaine was employed as a bookkeeper at Plattner Welding Supply, and Neil Todd Enterprises in Coffeyville for many years. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, and Holy Name Altar Society. She enjoyed fishing, and bowling, and was an avid Kansas University Basketball and Notre Dame Football fan. But most of all loved spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband, Jim Sterk of the home; two sons, David Rice and wife Angela of Maumelle, AR, and James Sterk and wife Charity of Coffeyville; one daughter, Julie Dodson and husband Drew of Summerfield, NC; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2016, at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Chad Arnold officiating. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
