Obituary of Mary Evelyn Rogers

Mary Evelyn Rogers, 88, passed from this world on Friday, April 29, 2016, at Windsor Place in Coffeyville. She was born on August 2, 1927, at Oswego, KS to James Arthur and Edna (Dammeron) Kiker. Evelyn grew up and attended school in Oswego until moving to Coffeyville in 1944. She graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1945. After graduating from high school she attended Coffeyville Junior College. On August 17, 1947, she was united in marriage to Junior Antone "Tom" Rogers. Following their marriage they made their home in the Dearing area where they raised their sons, Tom Antone Rogers and Terry Arthur Rogers. After her children were older she worked as a Postal Clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for 17 years. Her husband preceded her in death on January 16, 1993 She was a member of Grace Fellowship, and was a Cub Scout Pack Leader and Den Mother for many years, and enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting, and doing leather work, but most of all loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and son, Terry Rogers. Survivors include one son, Tom Rogers and wife Wilma of Caney; daughter-in-law, Amy Scott Rogers of Bartlesville; five grandchildren, Margaret Pinkerton and husband Eric, Tony Rogers and wife Susan, Kathy Rogers, Stephen Rogers and wife Jill, and Rebecca Beard and husband Robert; and nine great-grandchildren. Graveside Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Restlawn Memorial Park in Coffeyville Friends may call on Tuesday, May 3rd from 9:00 a.m. to 8: 00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Donor's favorite charity; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
