Dennis L. Watts, 77, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at his home.
Dennis was born on September 17, 1938 in North Dakota to Howard and Golda Watts. He grew up in Coffeyville where he graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp.
Dennis worked for Sherwin Williams in the maintenance department for many years. On February 1, 2008 he married Patsy "Pat" Stark in Chetopa, Kansas. The couple made Coffeyville their home.
He was a member of the Dearing First Baptist Church and the V.F.W. Post #1022. Dennis enjoyed horse racing and bowling. Most of all he loved the time spent surrounded by family and friends.
Surviving to honor his memory are his wife, Pat of the home; children, Rusty Watts of Liberty, Kansas, Valerie Smith and husband, Walt of Liberty, Kansas, Randy Watts of Liberty, Kansas, Steve Watts and wife, Kim of Coffeyville, Kansas; step children, Kathy Ryan and companion, Elton Fowler of Elk City, Kansas, Kristi Ryan of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Tim Hare and wife, Kelly of Coffeyville, Kansas, Trish Cox and husband, Mike of Coffeyville, Kansas; eighteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Golda; brothers, Larry and Clifford Watts; sister, Rowena Gregory; step daughter, Susan Hare; great grandson, Evan Watts.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Veterans Patio at Fairview Cemetery. Pastor Edwin Trottingwolf of Dearing First Baptist Church will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the V.F.W. Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20.
Family visitation will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016 at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church of Dearing, Kansas; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
