Obituary of Billy Joe Coy

Billy Joe Coy, 68, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Billy was born in Coffeyville, Kansas to William and Daisy (McKibben) Coy. He grew up in Coffeyville where he attended local schools. Billy worked as a painter for Watco for more than 20 years until his retirement in 2010. He was a member of the American Legion Post #20. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Billy is survived by a son, Mike Widner and wife, Shawna of Tennessee; grandchildren, Blake Nelson of Tennessee, Haley Widner of Arkansas, Aiden Widner and Tyler Widner of Tennessee, Kara Taylor of Coffeyville; great-granddaughter, Taylor Wyrick of Coffeyville; sisters, Ila Garoutte of Liberty, Kansas, Ruth Starlin of Longton, Kansas, Bonnie Brewer of Pryor, Oklahoma, and Sue Coy of Dewey, Oklahoma. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Billy was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Estel Starlin, Jr. and Kenneth Starlin. Cremation has take place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. The American Legion in Coffeyville will be hosting a Memorial Gathering on June 18, 2016 at 1:00pm. All family and friends are welcome. Please join us in celebrating his life. There will be food, fellowship and a ton of great stories.
