Howard L. Williams, 84, of Coffeyville passed away Monday, June 13, 2016, at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, OK. He was born on July 18, 1931 at Stella, Missouri to Carus H. and Ruby (Collings) Williams. Howard grew up and attended school in the Stella area, graduating from Stella High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Marine Corp from February 1952 until receiving his Honorable Discharge in July 1953. On April 7, 1955, he married Evelyn Mahurin at Miami, Oklahoma. Following their marriage they made their home in the Stella, MO area until moving to Coffeyville in 1958. Howard was a mechanic and operated a small engine repair business for many years, he also was an Auctioneer, and sold water melons and peaches for years. Howard was an active member of the Methodist Church for many years and attended Amazing Grace Ministries, and loved attending Cowboy Camp meetings. He was a member of the American Legion, and was an active volunteer at the Boy’s Club, Salvation Army, and Sheriff’s Department Auxiliary. Howard loved to fish and spend time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of the home; one son, Ronnie Williams of Coffeyville; one daughter, Bonnie Foster and husband Donnie of Coffeyville; two grandsons, Joshua Foster, and Kayce Foster; and seven great-grandchildren, Nathanial Foster, Harleigh Foster, Edison Foster, Chris Foster, Gabriel Foster, Laz Foster and Isabella Foster. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2016 at Amazing Grace Ministries, 501 East 9th St., in Coffeyville with Pastor Gary Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville with Military Honors conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20. Friends may call on Thursday, June 16th from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children’s Hospital; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
