Marlene Annette Hassenplug, 56, of South Coffeyville, OK, passed away Wednesday (August 8, 2007) at her home.
She was born July 14, 1951 at Great Bend, KS to Milton and Mary Agnes (Gleissner) Yarmer. She grew up in the Galatia, KS area attending grade school at St. Ann's Catholic School in Olmitz, KS and graduating from Hoisington High School. After high school she attended Emporia State University and Tulsa University where she received her degree in Medical Records Administration.
On August 18, 1973 she married Michael Hassenplug at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Olmitz. Following their marriage they made their home in the Kansas City area until moving to Coffeyville in 1980.
Marlene was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville and Holy Name Altar Society.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Hassenplug of the home; one son, Steven Hassenplug of South Coffeyville, OK; her father, Milton Yarmer of Olmitz; and three brothers, Melvin Yarmer of Albert, KS, Maurice Yarmer of Galatia, KS, and Michael Yarmer of Albert, KS. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Agnes Yarmer in 2006.
A Rosary Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday (August 9, 2007) at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday (August 10, 2007) at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville with Father Jerome Spexarth officiating.
A Rosary Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (August 11, 2007) in St. Ann's Catholic Church in Olmitz, Kansas, burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery at Olmitz, with Father Ultan Murphy officiating.
Friends may sign the register book on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, the casket will be closed.
The family suggests memorials to Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville or Cornerstone Hospice in Bartlesville, OK; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Rd., Coffeyville, KS 67337.
