Coffeyville - Earl Maxwell Campbell, 88, of Coffeyville, formerly of Tyro passed away Monday (August 6, 2007) at Medicalodge in Coffeyville. He was born on December 4, 1918 at New Cumberland, PA to Herbert Ray and Irene (Cumberland) Campbell. He grew up and attended school in Pennsylvania. He worked in the coal mines until joining the U.S. Army Air Corp in 1941 serving during World War II until being discharged in December 1945. On April 28, 1943, he married Fern Butler at Roswell, N.M. where Mr. Campbell was serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp. Following Mr. Campbell's discharge they moved to Coyville, Ks where Mr. Campbell farmed, they later lived in Neodesha until moving to a farm north of Tyro. After he retired they moved to Tyro where they made their home until moving to Coffeyville in 2002. Mrs. Campbell preceded him in death on June 13, 2007. Mr. Campbell was a member of the Tyro Christian Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include two sons, James and Cheryl Campbell of East Brewton, Alabama, and Roger and Cheryl Campbell of Choctaw, Oklahoma; two brothers, twin brother Merle Campbell, and Ray Campbell, Jr. and one sister Ruth Young all of Pennsylvania; 11 Grandchildren; and 13 Great-Grandchildren. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday (August 9, 2007) in the Tyro Christian Church with David Bycoft officiating. Burial will be in the Havana Cemetery at Havana, Kansas. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Tyro Christian Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home.
