Obituary of Edwin B. Neale

Mr. Edwin B. Neale, 91, of Bowling Green, KY died July 16, 2016, at the Christian Health Center in Bowling Green, KY A native of Coffeyville, KS, he was the son of Cora Bolton Richards and Edwin Bowman Neale. One sister, Phyllis Henry and grandson Joseph Burke Neale preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Barbara Read Neale, three sons and wives, Ed Neale Jr., wife Kathy Lou of Columbia MO, David Neale, wife Lynda Neale of Bowling Green, KY, John Neale, wife Nancy Neale of Arlington TX., six grandchildren Angela Clark, Kristin Dennis, Michael Neale, Catherine Crudup, Bennett Neale and five great-grandchildren Ed joined the Navy Air Corps in 1943 graduating from officer's candidate school and was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant from the Navy in 1946. He served in the naval reserves for 11 more years. He went to work for his father-in-law at H.W. Reads Department Store in 1946 at Coffeyville KS, buying the business in 1963. Starting in 1974 he opened additional stores in Chanute KS, and Tulsa OK. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville for 59 years serving as a Trustee for many years. In addition he was a member of the Coffeyville Merchant's Association serving as President, Rotary Club member for 60 years and a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. for 66 years. He served as a board member of the First National Bank of Coffeyville for 19 years and was a member of Money Sunk Investment Club for 64 years and was a charter member of the Coffeyville Country Club. While living in Bowling Green he served as a trustee of the State Street United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, August 3rd, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville, Kansas with Pastor Nicole Schwartz officiating. David W.
