Obituary of Vera Mae Hepner

Vera Mae Hepner, 88, of Coffeyville went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 16, 2016.
She was born on March 30, 1928, in Edna, KS to Herbert and Alma (Hays) Majors. Vera grew up and attended school in Edna graduating from Edna High School.
On September 7, 1946, she married Adrian "Red" Lee. Following their marriage they lived in San Diego, CA while Red served in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge they returned to the Coffeyville area where they raised their children Cheryl and Rick. They were later divorced.
On August 30, 1968, she married Kenneth Hepner. They made their home west of Coffeyville where Kenny operated Hepner Auto Sales for many years. Kenny preceded her in death on April 28, 1998.
When she was younger Vera was a telephone operator, after her marriage to Kenny she worked as secretary and bookkeeper for Hepner Auto Sales.
Vera was a member of the Dearing Christian Church and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed time spent at their cabin at Grand Lake and loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Moore and husband Jim of South Coffeyville, OK; her son Rick Lee and wife Kim of Liberty, KS; two step-daughters, Jane Wintjen of Independence, KS and Diana Leland of Tahlequah, OK; one step-son, Richard Hepner of Coffeyville; twelve grandchildren, and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and granddaughter, Stacy Dawn Wade.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2016, at the Dearing Christian Church with Pastor Jamie Regis officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park.
Friends may call on Thursday, August 18th from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
