James Joseph Cavanaugh, 88, of Springfield, MO passed away, November 1, 2016 at the Arbors at Lakewood in Springfield.
He was born on October 13, 1928 at Coffeyville to William Joseph and Martha (Loux) Cavanaugh. He grew up and attended school Holy Name Catholic School and Field Kindley High School. He completed his education receiving his Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree at the University of Kansas.
He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Air Force.
On December 28, 1950, he married JoAnn Cahn at Abilene, TX
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn; one daughter, Sharon Gillham of Ozark, MO; one son, James Joseph Cavanaugh, Jr. of Broken Arrow, OK; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Timothy Cavanaugh.
A Memorial Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville with Father Chad Arnold officiating. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
