Russell G. Sands, 66, of Dearing, KS passed away Monday, December 12, 2016, at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, OK.
He was born on October 6, 1950, at Coffeyville to Guy and Dorothy (Wallingford) Sands. Russell grew up and attended school in Coffeyville graduating from Field Kindley High School and attended Coffeyville Community College.
Russell enjoyed playing golf, old cars, and spending time with his daughter, grandkids, friends and his pets.
Survivors include one daughter, Shelly Lafferty of Nowata, OK, one son, two brothers, and two grandchildren, Ava Lafferty and Ethan Sanders.
A memorial service celebrating Russell's life will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2016, at the First Church of God, 2010 West 5th St., Coffeyville, KS with Pastor Mark Wilson officiating. Following the memorial service there will be a Chili Feed. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Mound Valley Cemetery in Mound Valley, KS.
The family suggests memorials to the First Church of God Children's Church; contributions may be left with the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
