Jimmy L. Johnson, 82, of Coffeyville passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. He was born on December 12, 1933, at Coffeyville to E.A. and Clara (Ambrose) Johnson. Jim grew up and attended school in Coffeyville graduating from Field Kindley High School in 1951. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. On December 25, 1953 he married the love of his life Barbara Colley at Coffeyville. They made their home in Coffeyville where he worked at Sabreliner, Continental Can before starting his career at Sherwin-Williams where he worked for 30 years. Jim was a member of Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church, and a longtime American Red Cross volunteer. He loved spending time with his family, and enjoyed watching his grandkids in their activities. Survivors include his wife, Barbara of the home; two daughters, Donna Starnes of Coffeyville, and Vickie Males and husband Don of Coffeyville; four grandchildren, Casey Starnes, Jaime Grant, Craig Males, and Kara Males; four great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Rylan, Sevan, and Daxon; three brothers, Bob Johnson of Paola, Gary Johnson of Hutchinson, and Larry Johnson of Coffeyville; and three sisters, Deloris Johnson of Coffeyville, Joan Garrison of Coffeyville, and Beverly Johnson of Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 18th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. Following Jim's wishes creation has taken place and no service is planned at this time. Memorials are suggests to the American Red Cross Pioneer Chapter or Tatman Cancer Center at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
