Obituary of Andrew Jackson Sitsler

Andrew "A.J." Jackson Sitsler, Jr., 73, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville. A.J. was born on August 6, 1943 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Andrew Jackson Sitsler, Sr. and Wilda Mae (Stephens) Sitsler. He grew up in Coffeyville where he attended local schools. On June 7, 1968 he married the love of his life, Velta "Jean" (Rogers) Collins in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Coffeyville. A.J. worked several years for Halliburton and Aptus. For the majority of his life he was a mechanic. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and playing cards. Most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends. Surviving to honor his memory are his wife, Jean of the home; two daughters from a previous marriage, Brenda and Kelly; two step sons, Michael (Barbara) Collins of Pryor, Oklahoma, Steven (Annie) Collins of Kentucky; sisters, Ellen (Charles) Lewis of Hill City, Kansas, Shirley Perkins of Caney, Kansas; brothers, Jimmy Ray Sitsler of Caney, Kansas and Jack Sitsler of Coffeyville, Kansas; fifteen grandchildren and thirty seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Wilda; a step son, Jeffery Collins; sisters, Janie Sitsler and Dolly Knisley; brother in law, Sonny Knisley and a sister in law, Patty Sitsler. Following A.J.'s wishes cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville and no service is planned at this time.
