Douglas Leon Triebel, 74, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017 in Edna, KS at his daughter's home surrounded by his family and close friends Kevin and Joy Vaughters.
Doug was born on September 16, 1942 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Elmer H. and Mary Lee (Wester) Triebel. He graduated from Labette County High School in 1960.
After graduation he enlisted in the Navy on November 30th, 1962. He served on the U.S.S. Orion. While serving in the Navy on July 19, 1966 he married Sharon McBane. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy the couple set up residence in Coffeyville, KS. Of this union one daughter and two sons were born. The couple later divorced.
Doug married Sue (Wilson) Savage on August 20th 1979 and they were married until her death on February 8th, 2015.
Doug worked at Funks Manufacturing and then John Deere as a machinist until his retirement in August 1998.
Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a part of Mountain Men Reenactments.
Surviving to honor his memory are his daughter Michelle Traxson of Edna Kansas; sons Dustin Triebel of Kansas City, Missouri, Shawn Triebel and his wife Shawna of Greeneville, Tennessee; stepdaughter Lynda Harder and husband Ron of Ava, Missouri; stepson Frederick Savage of Monett, MO; grandchildren Tyler Traxson, Kirsten Traxson, Kaylee Triebel, Madison Triebel, Jade Triebel, Kaden Triebel, Craig Harder, Dean Harder; three great-grandchildren; brother Sam Triebel and wife Kathy of Coffeyville; sister Julie Jack and husband Phil of Edna, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sue (Savage) Triebel, his parents Elmer H. "Buck" Triebel and Mary Lee (Wester) Triebel, step-daughter Becky Savage and a granddaughter Alexis Triebel.
Cremation will take place. No services are planned. The family suggests memorials to the Cancer Research Institute or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Contributions may be left with the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337, or sent directly to the respective charities.
