Coffeyville - Sonja Mae (Ingram) Bell, 64, of Coffeyville, formerly of Independence and Edna, passed away Monday night (July 23, 2007) at her home in Coffeyville. She was born October 30, 1942 at Welch, Oklahoma, to James B. and Alice Mae (Arnold) Ingram. She grew up in the Edna area where she attended school, graduating from Labette County High School in Altamont. She worked at Newberry's in Coffeyville, and later was employed at Automotive Control at Independence and the Independence School Food Service. On June 29, 1962 she married Everett Gene Bell at Diamond, Missouri. Following their marriage they made their home in Independence for 30 years before moving to their farm north of Coffeyville where they lived for 10 years until moving to Coffeyville one year ago. Mrs. Bell was a member of the Mound Valley Christian Church in Mound Valley, Kansas. Survivors include her husband, Gene Bell of the home; two sons, Bruce Bell and his wife Mardie of Coffeyville, Shawn Bell of Rose Hill, KS; her mother and step-father, Alice and Lee Howard of Joplin, MO; one sister, Caroline Wilkie of Joplin, MO; three brothers, Robert Ingram of Duenweg, MO, John Ingram of Salem, MO, and George Ingram of Salem, AR; two grandsons, Cody Bell and Kyle Bell both of Coffeyville; her mother-in-law, Bellveretta Bell of Coffeyville; three nieces, four nephews and many other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday (July 27, 2007) at the Mound Valley Cemetery in Mound Valley, KS with Rev. Robert Wilkie officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Animals With Our Love (A.W.O.L.) Humane Society in Independence, KS; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
