Obituary of Stella M. Reese

Stella M. Reese, 65, of Coffeyville passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. She was born on August 14, 1951, at Parsons, Kansas to Joe and Socorro (Hernandez) Asebedo. Stella grew up and attended school in Parsons graduating from Parsons High School. On August 11, 1973, she united in marriage to the love of her life David Reese at Parsons. Following their marriage they lived in several different states while her husband served in the U.S. Army. After his discharge in 1974, they moved to Coffeyville where they made their home and raised their daughter. Stella was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville and also was a member of Holy Name Altar Society. She enjoyed decorating, crafts, painting furniture, and ceramics, but her greatest love was the time spent with her family. Survivors include her husband, David of the home; her daughter, Felicia Maldonado of Wichita; her father, Joe Asebedo of Parsons; and three grandchildren, Lauryn Chavez, Anistyn Maldonado, and Alec Maldonado all of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her mother, Socorro Asebedo; and her brother, Paul Asebedo. A Rosary Vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 27, 2017, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville with Father Chad Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
