Obituary of Alice Marie (Mishler) Henry-Dennis

Alice Marie (Mishler) Henry-Dennis, 90, of Coffeyville and former longtime rural Liberty resident passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at Asbury Village in Coffeyville. She was born on September 26, 1926, in rural Cherryvale, KS to Ola David and Edith Christine (Barker) Mishler. Alice grew up and attended school in rural Cherryvale and graduated from Morehead High School in Morehead, KS. On April 17, 1949, she was united in marriage to John David Henry at Cherryvale, KS. Following their marriage they made their home on their farm in rural Liberty. Her husband preceded her in death on June 15, 1969. On August 6, 1974, she married Veryl Lehman Dennis at Joplin, MO. Following their marriage they farmed in rural Liberty. Veryl preceded her in death on January 9, 2008. Alice was a charter member of Westside Christian Church in Coffeyville. She loved being in the country helping with the farm and the cattle, gardening, canning, cooking, sewing, reading, and doing puzzles. But her greatest love was spending time with her family and going to watch her children's, grandchildren's, and great-grandchildren's ball games. Survivors include one son, Jerry Henry of Carl Junction, MO; one daughter, Dixie Badger and husband Denny of Sevierville, TN; one daughter-in-law, Sandra Henry of rural Liberty; one brother, Chet Mishler; five sisters, Julia Manning, June Richardson, Zita Mallory, Charlotte Merritt, and Barbara McNickle; five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; her husband, Veryl; one son, Johnnie Henry; four brothers and one sister. Graveside Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2017, in the Liberty Cemetery in Liberty, KS with Pastor Mike Elrod of the Westside Christian Church officiating. Friends may call on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
