We would like to express our heartfelt sadness to you and all of your family. We have been gone for the last ten days and just received the news about the passing of Sam. There are very few true friends that we have during our lives. Sam will always have a special place in my heart. We all grew up together, on the same street, just a few houses from each other. We destroyed a neighbors rundown stone and metal shed together. (along with a few others) We went to school together from Kindergarten through College where we were roommates and both received our Accounting Degrees. When we were kids we played football in the lot between our houses. We played baseball together and basketball on Tom Duckworth's garage, in the alley. I remember the Chevy that Sam drove you guys to High School. I remember in High School when Sam asked me what I was going to major in College. I told him that I had no idea. He told me he was going to major in Business Administration and be an Accountant because they made a lot of money. For some reason I felt that if that was what he was going to do that I might just do the same. I was just telling Janice a few days ago , before I learned of Sam's death, that when we were going to College, Sam always kept a jar of peanut butter in the dorm room, that he had bought at Foodtown. It had a picture of a cowboy and a horse on the label... just always thought that was strange for a jar of peanut butter. Anyway, he went through a lot of peanut butter jars while we were in school. When we got married Sam was a groomsman. I have always thought that was special because of our friendship. As I write this I keep fighting back the tears. I am not doing a very good job. When my parents pasted away he came to their funerals.. The sign of a true friend..... I will always be grateful.. I was never able to attend your parents funerals... I am truly sad about that. Funny how we go through life we have close friends who are dear to us. We lose those close contacts but eventually we learn how close our hearts stay with them. I will miss knowing that Sam is not here, but he will always be in my heart.... Sam was the definition of a Special Friend.
Finally I would like to tell you that I am so sorry I was unable to attend the services for Sam. It leaves a big and sad void in heart. I am so very sorry.... God Bless you David.....

It was with great sadness but wonderful memories that I said goodbye to Sam today. He was a wonderful friend to my late husband, Don, and me since they first met and worked together at Knight Industries. We kept up over the years and when Don became ill, Sam was so faithful to call and come visit. After Don's death in 2012, he continued to call to see how I was doing and if I didn't hear from him for a while, I called to see how HE was doing. Sam sent a donation every year to Clarehouse in Don's memory and he and David even sent me flowers every Christmas! What I cherished the most, though, were those phone calls. I know Don was so glad to see you, Sam, when you entered heaven last Thursday but I am missing you so much!!! Love you Always, Judy
PS---It was a wonderful service and Sam looked so great!

I've known Sam since I was very young. He used to babysit me when I was young. I just saw Sam last September. I never thought it would be the last time. Rest in peace my friend!

Dave....our thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time. Gary & I both worked with Sam for many years and he not only was my supervisor but also a very good friend. While we hurt because of his loss, I want to remember the talks and laughs we shared throughout the years....those are memories that will remain within our hearts. Sam..rest in peace my friend and when we meet again be prepared to go on another shopping trip with me!
