Calvin Nunnallee, 83, of rural Craig County, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday (July 4, 2007) at his home.
Calvin was born August 9, 1923 in Craig County, Oklahoma, to John H. and Ethel (Lewman) Nunnallee. He grew up in the Twin Bridges area of western Craig County, receiving his elementary education at Childers. OK and high school at Delaware, OK graduating from Delaware High School.
On September 16, 1951 he married Juanita Stine at the Elm Christian Church east of Edna, KS. Following their marriage they moved to their ranch in Craig County, OK. Calvin was involved in ranching for over 70 years.
He was one of the Founding Elders and member of the Bartlett Christian Church in Bartlett, KS. Calvin was a member and Past President of Clear Creek Grange; the Oklahoma State Grange named the Nunnallee's as Granger of the Year in 2006, and received the Oklahoma State Grange Governors Outstanding Achievement Award in Agriculture. They were named Outstanding Farm Family of the Year in Craig County, OK in 1992. He was also one of the Founders of the Golden Rocket 4-H Club.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Nunnallee of the home; three daughters and their husbands, Susan and Kelvin Morgan of rural South Coffeyville, OK, Mary Beth and Larry Renfroe of rural Welch, OK, and Martha and Mike Armitage of Claremore, OK; eight grandchildren, Dalton Morgan, Caitlin Morgan and Landon Morgan all of rural South Coffeyville, OK, Will and Lindsey Renfroe of Claremore, OK, Talara Renfroe of rural Welch, OK, Merrit Armitage and Turner Armitage both of Claremore; and three great-grandchildren, Riley Renfroe, Kaden Renfroe and Maddux Renfroe all of Claremore, OK.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday (July 11, 2007) at the Bartlett Christian Church with Reverend Fred Wooldridge and Reverend Paul Ashman officiating. Burial will be in the North Edna Cemetery at Edna, KS.
Friends may call on from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. Additional visitation with the family receiving friends will be on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Bartlett Christian Church in Bartlett, KS.
The family requests memorials to the Bartlett Christian Church Building Fund; contributions may be left with the funeral home.
