Obituary of Wayne L. Carr

Wayne Leroy Carr, 91, of Coffeyville passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at his residence.

He was born December 23, 1925, at Oakside, MO to Walter H. and Zula (Foshe) Carr. Wayne grew up and attended a rural school in the Oakside area.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy from March 14, 1944 receiving his Honorable Discharge on February 23, 1946. Following his discharge he returned to Mountain View, MO.

On March 10, 1948, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Nadine Hager at Hardy, AR. Following their marriage they lived in Mountain View until moving to the Coffeyville area in 1948 where Wayne began his career as a Truck Driver. He drove for Sante Fe and later Jensen Brothers until retiring. After his retirement he drove a Dump Truck for several years.

Wayne was an active member of the First Southern Baptist Church; serving as a Trustee and was Sunday School Superintendent for many years, he also belonged to the V.F.W. Post #1022 and the Teamsters Union. He loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Nadine of the home; two daughters, Juanita Handshumaker and husband Steve of Coffeyville, and Delores Blevins and husband Tom of Coffeyville; two sons, Ivan Carr and wife Teri of Coffeyville and Roy Carr and wife Melinda of Coffeyville,; one sister, Viola Henry of Mountain View, MO; twelve grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren with three more on the way, and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters, and one grandson, Matthew Swigart.

Services celebrating Wayne's life will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 29, 2017, at the First Southern Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Eakins officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park.

Friends may call on Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the First Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville.

The family suggests memorials to the First Southern Baptist Church Deacons Benevolence Fund and the Gideons; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
