Obituary of Charles F. Dick

Charles Franklin Dick, 81, of Coffeyville passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
He was born on November 20, 1935, at Mound Valley, KS to Roy Franklin and Mae Ellen LaDora (Peyton) Dick. Charles grew up northeast of Coffeyville where he attended Clymore School, he completed his education graduating from Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville.
On October 17, 1956 he married Marilyn Knight at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their family. Charles was employed at the Perl Chevrolet before beginning his career in Appliance Repair working at Brown Furniture for many years before starting his own Appliance Repair business which he operated until retiring. After retiring he began working at the Flour Mill repairing equipment for several years.
He was a member of the Tyro Christian Church, and former car club member. He enjoyed camping, coon hunting, fishing, woodworking and wood carving. But his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Marilyn of the home; two sons, Eric Dick and wife Lori of Coffeyville, and Terry Dick and wife Shelley of Liberty; one sister-in-law, Maxine Dick of Coffeyville; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gayland Kim Dick; and one brother, Buddie Dick.
A Memorial Service celebrating Charles' life will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 19, 2017, at the Fairview Cemetery Veterans Memorial Patio with David Bycroft officiating. Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may sign the register book on Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center Foundation; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
