Obituary of Janis Mae Ferguson

Janis Mae Ferguson, 71,  of Coffeyville passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at her home.

She was born on May 22, 1946, near McMinnville, Oregon to Roy and Lorraine (Taylor) Burnham. When Janis was 2 years old, her family moved to the Coffeyville area where she grew up, attended school and worked on her parent's dairy farm. She graduated from Labette County Community High School and Coffeyville Community College.

On July 7, 1967, she married Joseph “Joe” Ferguson in Coffeyville. Following their marriage, they made their home in the Coffeyville area where they raised their family.  Janis and Joe recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 7th with all of their family.

Janis worked at the Amazon.com Distribution Center, Dorothy Dew Delivery Service and was a Tupperware representative for many years. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

She enjoyed horses, ceramics, crocheting, sewing, cooking and playing the piano, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Janis is survived by her husband, Joe of the home; her children, Sandra Blake of Angola, KS, Jessica Stilwell of Ada, OK, Lee Ferguson of Coffeyville, Jeannette Jernigan of El Dorado, KS, Sarah Foster of Evansville, IN, Joe D. Ferguson of Coffeyville and Mary Ferguson of Coffeyville; three brothers, Richard Burnham of Snohomish, WA, Russell Burnham of Kansas City, MO, and Jimmy Burnham of rural Coffeyville; and one sister Patty Cary of Tacoma, WA; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Stuart Burnham and one sister, Jackie Hubbell.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at the Elmwood Cemetery in Coffeyville with Chaplain Keith Springer of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice officiating.
