Obituary of Robert J. Adamson
Robert J. "Bob" Adamson, 86 of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Sunday August 6, 2017 at his home in Coffeyville, Kansas.
He was born July 13, 1931 in Bismarck, North Dakota to Richard H. and Ida (Dreiling) Adamson. When he was young his family moved to the Kansas City, MO area where he attended grade school, high school and college..
On September 2, 1950, he married Marilyn McGrath. Following their marriage they made their home in Kansas City, Missouri until moving to Coffeyville in 1958.
Bob was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. He worked at First National Bank and later at Prudential Life Insurance Company until his retirement in 1992. He also was a former CCD instructor at Holy Name Catholic School, a member of several bridge clubs and dance clubs. He enjoyed watching the Kansas City Royal and the Kansas City Chiefs with his family. Most of all, he enjoyed spending with his children, grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marilyn on July 5, 2007 and one son, Michael Adamson on August 24, 2011 and two sisters, Dorothy Christmas and Mary Alice Jenkins.
He is survived by four sons, Robert Adamson and his wife Jamie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Daniel Adamson and his wife, Dana of Helena, Montana, Richard Adamson and his wife Natalie of Coffeyville, Kansas and Charles Adamson and his wife Robin of Coffeyville, Kansas; four daughters, Sharon Huelsman and her husband Greg of Overland Park, Kansas, Mary Clough and her husband Jon of Coffeyville, Kansas, Pamela Adamson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Cynthia Murdock and her husband Derek of Coffeyville, Kansas and daughter-in-law Sharon Adamson of Coffeyville, Kansas; twenty-nine grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren and his brother Dr. Richard Adamson of Arizona; and Clyde his dog and best friend.
A Rosary Vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 10, 2017,.at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Daniel Lorimer officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville
