Obituary of Charles L. Bentley, Jr.

Charles L. Bentley, Jr., 56, of Coffeyville passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017, at his home after a brief illness.

He was born on April 6, 1961, at Odessa, TX to Charles L. and JoAnne (York) Bentley, Sr. Charles attended school different schools in Texas and southern Oklahoma where his father worked in the oil fields.

He married Dorothy Elliot and they had three children. They were later divorced.

Charles married Brenda Mongan and they had one son. They made their home in Coffeyville after moving from Victoria, TX in 1996. He was employed by Atlas Steel in Vinita, OK for 17 years.

He enjoyed watching football games, the History Channel and SciFi Channel, along with playing blackjack at the casinos, bowling and hunting. His greatest past time was spending time with his family and friends by their pool and grilling out.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda of the home; his children, Charles Bentley, III and wife Judy of Fort Smith, AR, Christina Bentley of McAlester, OK, Christopher Bentley of Tulsa. OK, Darrin Bentley and girlfriend Hannah Coward of Coffeyville, Blake Underwood and wife Arianna of Tulsa, OK, Amber English and husband Forrest of Parsons, KS, and Brittany Wright and husband Jerry of Pea Ridge, AR; his step-mother, Martha Bentley of Victoria, TX; brothers and sisters, Teresa Bennett of Fort Worth, TX, Barton Bentley and wife Rose of Texas, Romeo Paolo Cubas of Bogota, Columbia, and Jeanette Monique Ernest and husband Chris of Highland Mills, NY; four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 24, 2017, at the First Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Rich Jenkins of Springfield, MO officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
