So sorry to hear of Clyde's passing. My husband, Tom who passed away August 25th and Clyde were friends in high school. They both loved classic cars (55 Chev) and dancing to the music of that era. They had practiced and had their James Brown moves down at Teen Town on the top floor of Memorial hall. Being from a small town to the east of Coffeyville, I was thoroughly impressed. Clyde's mother was also a part of our lives as she and Tom shared a love for antiques. You are in my thoughts and prayers Tarz and the rest of Clyde's family.

I grew up next door to Clyde. I have many memories of how much he loved playing with toy stock cars, like they drove in the 50's, and when he was old enough, he loved to go to the stock car races in Coffeyville, and he knew all the drivers names. and was a huge fan. Overall a really nice guy, who enjoyed his hobbies and his friends.

I met Clyde because he and my Dad are friends. We had several things in common, our love of dogs, The Beatles, old cars, and my Dad.
Several years ago, I wanted to give my Dad a birthday party, and Clyde insisted that we do it at his house. I will forever be grateful for that, it was a day full of friends and good memories.
Me and a mutual friend, Walter Lewis, came from Tulsa to see Clyde a few times. They were long-time friends and had a lot of memories together. We never lacked for conversation, the topic was usually cars. He was always happy to see us, and told us so.
When Clyde found out my birth date, he called me every year to say happy birthday. That meant a lot to me.
I know that Clyde's friends meant a lot to him, and I am glad to be one of them.

Clyde will always be linked to me in both tragedy and fun. We were high school running mates. Clyde and I were together on a fateful Saturday when we ran into John 'Thug' Moomaw and Tony Quaglione downtown C'ville. Someone said we should go swimming at the river, which we did. The water was high and there was a small dam. We were swimming across above the dam - Moomaw first, Quag, me, and Clydie last. When I got to the other side Clyde was gone. He was swept over the dam and stuck in turbulent water at the base of the dam - drowning. Quag jumped in to save him. They were both stuck now. There was nothing we could do. Helpless. Clyde was thrown out of the water and we pulled him to shore. Quag never made it. I will never forget it. Ever. I am sure neither did Clyde. We talked about it a few times but it was a rough time.
Clyde was a great guy and a true friend. He and I were in a band - The Pacers. We would listen to Kingsmen records at his house. He was the first guy I knew that got Beatle boots. And man, could he dance! He was the best - James Brown moves. I saw Clyde at a HS reunion about 10 years ago. He had lost a leg but he got out there and danced. Still had it. We lost track of each other through the years but I always thought of Clyde. He and I will always be friends. My sympathy to the family. God Bless You Clydie. -- Bob Maness
