Dudley Doyle Foster, 77, of Sedan passed away Friday, September 23, 2017, at Journey Home in Bartlesville, OK. He was born on December 18, 1939, at Sedan, KS to Charles Doyle and Dola (Sanborn) Foster. Dudley grew up in the Sedan area where he attended school graduating from Sedan High School in 1958. After high school he attended Coffeyville Junior College on a track scholarship, while on the track team they won the National Junior College Track Championship in Big Springs, TX. Dudley also set the Junior College Record for the quarter mile in 1960 with a time of 49.7 seconds. In September 1960, he married Sharon Jones. They had three children, Charles Douglas, and twins, Terry Dow, and Sherry Denise. They were later divorced On June 8, 1969 he married Judith 'Judy' Olson at Leonardville, KS. Dudley was a Game Warden with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks. He worked in Wichita, then Minneapolis, KS, and in 1973 was transferred to Parsons, KS where he and Judy made their home for 25 years. Following his retirement they moved to their home near Sedan which he helped build. He was a 50 year member of the Kansas Peace Officers Association, a member of the Kansas Bow Hunters Association, the Oklahoma Longbowmen, the Compton Traditional Bowhunters, and the Thompson Center Association. He was a member of the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Park's Pistol Team for 20 years, winning many shooting awards. Being an avid archer he made much of his own equipment from the bow to the treestand, he also enjoyed building trailers, did wildlife photography, drew and did oil paintings of animals, carved duck decoys and did flint knapping for knives and arrowheads, from obsidian. Survivors include his wife, Judy Foster of the home; his children, Charles Foster and wife, Debbie of Newkirk, OK, Terry Foster and wife, Barbara of Arkansas City, KS, and Sherry Petty and husband, Rob of Wichita, KS; his sister, Diane Mills and husband, Rex of Caney, KS; four grandchildren, T.J. Foster and wife, Jess, Adrianne Alexander and husband, James, Abigail Spielman and Austin Spielman; two great-grandchildren, Ella Foster and Keegan Foster; brothers-in law, John Olson and wife, Judy, and Jim Olson and wife, Eveadne; and two aunts, Theora Taggart and Elsie Sanborn. A Memorial Service celebrating Dudley's life will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Sedan United Methodist Church in Sedan, KS with Pastor Cathy Cole and Pastor Riley Cartwright officiating. Following Dudley's wishes cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be sent to the Coffeyville College Dean Pryor / Dudley Foster Track Scholarship Fund; contributions may be sent in care of David W.
