Obituary of Kenneth Andrew Bauer

Kenneth A. Bauer, 91, of Coffeyville passed away Friday, November 10, 2017, at his home. He was born May 30, 1926, at La Harpe, KS to George E. and Corda Mae (Beaver) Bauer. Kenneth grew up on the family farm and attended school in the La Harpe area. Kenneth was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy as a Fireman First Class on the SS Sea Star and the USS Bennington until receiving his honorable discharge in May 1946. On May 26, 1957, he married Lois N. Mefford at Modesto, CA. Following their marriage they made their home in Modesto where they raised their family while Kenneth was a truck driver. In 1996 they moved to Coffeyville. Kenneth was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #20 and American Legion Post #20, he enjoyed camping, working in his yard, watching football especially the Kansas City Chiefs, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife Lois of the home; one son, Charles Bauer of South Coffeyville, OK; one daughter, Vickie Hawkins of Coffeyville; one brother, Raymond Bauer of Overland Park, KS; nine grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Randall Creason and Russell Creason; and two brothers, Charles Bauer and Floyd Bauer. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2017, at the First Church of God, 2010 West 5th St., with Rev. Wayne Martin and Rev. Mark Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville with Military Honors conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20. Friends may call on Sunday, November 12th from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
