Obituary of Leota C. Roeder

Leota Carlene Roeder, 85, of Coffeyville passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Windsor Place. She was born on June 23, 1932, at Cherryvale, KS to Charles and Layla Pearce. Leota grew up in and attended school in Cherryvale graduating from Cherryvale High School One October 30, 1948, she was united in marriage to Vernon T. Roeder at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cherryvale. Following their marriage they made their home in Neodesha until moving to Coffeyville in 1955. Her husband preceded her in death on June 23, 2017. Leota was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, and Holy Name Altar Society. She enjoyed caring for her cats and traveling with her husband in their motorhome across the United States. But most of all she loved the time spent surrounded by her family especially her grandchildren.. Surviving to honor her memory are her son, Marty Roeder and wife Shanna of Coffeyville; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter Sharon K. Roeder on October 27, 1993, and her sister, Ruby Pearce. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville, with Father Daniel Lorimer officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials to Holy Name Catholic Church or Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
