Obituary of David Linn Moses

David Linn Moses, 69, of Coffeyville passed away Friday, December 8, 2017, at his home. He was born on October 28, 1948, at Coffeyville to J.B. and Genevieve G. (Gibson) Moses. David grew up and received his education in Coffeyville graduating from Field Kindley High School and Coffeyville Community College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam, he received two Purple Hearts and the Distinguished Service Cross. After receiving his honorable discharge he joined the U.S. Air Force after several enlistments he was honorably discharged and returned to Coffeyville where he worked for the City of Coffeyville in the Public Service Department. He married Pam Myers, they had three children. They were later divorced. On October 1, 2005, he married Marla (Goyer) Hilton at Coffeyville. She survives at the home. He was a member of the Pentecostal faith. David was also a member of V.F.W. Post #1022, he enjoyed telling stories, writing songs, fishing, and collecting Nutcrackers. But his greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Marla of the home; his children, Tracey VanBuren, Jennifer Davis, Bob Moses, Benjamin Phillips, and Rachel Phillips all of Coffeyville; two brothers, Sonny Moses, and Bill Moses both of Coffeyville; three sisters, Diane Peters of Tulsa, OK, Karen Law of Grove, OK, and Patti Moses of Independence; seventeen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and his beloved pet Whisper Dawn. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jim Moses and Jack Moses, and two sisters, Michaelle Hoggatt and Kay Houston. A Memorial Service celebrating David's life will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Emmanuel Chapel in South Coffeyville, OK with Rev. James Feltner officiating. Following David's wishes cremation has taken place. The family suggests memorials to V.F.W. Post #1022; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W.
