Obituary of Laura Jean Frye

Laura "Jeannie" Jean Frye, 81, of Tyro, Kansas passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017 at her home. Jeannie was born on January 31, 1936 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Stacy and Rosetta (Robbins) Wilson. She grew up in Coffeyville where she attended local schools. In 1950 she was united in marriage to John Frye. The couple made their home in Coffeyville area until 1962; then moved to Northern California to raise their three boys. They later moved back to the area where she was first a wife and mother. In 1971, she became the manager of the Golden Spur Motel for many years. She also worked at ACC in Independence, Kansas. She was always known for her beautiful voice and enjoyed singing and playing the piano but most of all she loved the time she spent surrounded by her family and friends. Surviving to honor her memory are her children, Mike and wife, Brenda of Caney, Kansas, Terry and wife, Pam of Tyro, Kansas, Marty and wife, Tammy of Wann, Oklahoma; siblings, Maxine Cook and husband, Jim, Kenneth Wilson and wife, Rita, Lois Cook and husband, Raymond; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stacy and Rosetta Wilson. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Tyro Christian Church in Tyro, Kansas. Evangelist David Bycroft will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. Family will greet friends Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
