Obituary of James Robert Bell

James (Jim) R Bell passed away Saturday December 30th 2017 at North Care Hospice House in North Kansas City, Missouri. He was 84. Jim was born August 3rd 1933 in Red Oak, Iowa to James (Jay) T Bell and Marie (Brodd) Bell. Jim grew up in Iowa, Texas, California and Kansas. His parents were longtime residents of the Wayside, Kansas area. Jim graduated from Wichita North High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957. He attended Independence Junior College and graduated with highest distinction from the University of Kansas with a B.S in education. He also obtained M.A. in mathematics from Central Michigan University and attended Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. Jim taught mathematics at Indian Hills Junior High School in Prairie Village, Kansas. In 1966 Jim went to work at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and held several positions including Senior Vice President and served as member and chairman of the Federal Reserve System's subcommittee on Fiscal Agency Operations. After retirement Jim worked as a bank operation consultant for the Federal Reserve Bank in Los Angeles, California. On March 18th 1967 he was united in marriage with Dolores F Siever at RLDS Chapel in Independence, Missouri. Following their marriage they made their home in the Lee's Summit, Missouri area. Jim enjoyed flying planes, landscaping with Dolores, a classic car enthusiast, well known history buff, and enjoyed watching old movies. Survivors include his wife of 50 years Dolores of the home, sisters Marilyn Sachen of Ottawa, KS and Lois Vorderbruegge of Wichita, KS, nephews Rick Barnhart and wife Kathy of Havana, KS, Jack Barnhart and wife Delores of Pomona, KS and Darren Vorderbruegge and wife Amy of Honolulu, HI; brother-in-law Ron Siever and his wife, Gerry of Springfield, MO two sister-in-laws; Connie Siever of Warrensburg, MO and Carolyn Hastings of Lee's Summit, MO and many Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be at 1 pm Friday, January 5th 2018 at the Wayside Christian Church in Wayside, Kansas with Pastor Jerry Davidson officiating. Burial will follow at Fawn Creek Cemetery in Tyro, Kansas. Friends may visit on Friday January 5th 2018 at the Wayside Christian Church from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The family would suggest memorials to the Wayside Waifs Pet Rescue or Wayside Christian Church Contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W.
