Obituary of Richard Eldon Freel
Richard "Bo" Eldon Freel, Jr, 42, of Coffeyville, Kansas entered into eternal rest after injuries sustained during an auto accident on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.
Bo was born on July 5, 1975 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Richard E. Freel, Sr. and Janet (Jennings) Freel. He grew up in Labette County where he was a talented athlete participating in football and wrestling before graduating from Labette County High School.
In 1993 Bo enlisted to proudly serve his country in the United States Marine Corp in Liberia, Bosnia and Haiti. He attended Fairmount College in West Virginia. He achieved the rank of Sergeant. After six years of service, Bo moved to Kansas where he continued to serve his country in the National Guard for another 14 years. During that time he was deployed to Iraq and trained in Germany. He retired from the National Guard in January of 2014.
Bo was a member of the Dearing Christian Church; he was a lifetime member of the VFW. He coached several youth sports throughout Coffeyville and Independence. Bo had fulfilled many of his dreams including starting his own business RKD Tire and Auto located on at 700 NE Street. He enjoyed working out and lifting weights, fishing, cooking and barbequing. But more than anything he loved the time he spent surrounded by children, especially his own.
Bo is survived by his father Richard Freel, Sr. and wife, Pat of Coffeyville, Kansas; mother Janet Freel of Coffeyville, Kansas; children, Kayla Freel of Independence, Kansas, Damon Freel of Coffeyville, Kansas; sister, Erica Freel of Coffeyville, Kansas; aunts, Stella Stowe and husband, Harley of Oregon, Jerrie Ann Lowrance and husband, Jerry of Coffeyville, Kansas; many cousins and great friends to remember his kindness.
