Obituary of Lee E. Long

Lee E. Long, 80, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at CRMC. Lee was born on March 22, 1937 in Caney, Kansas to Fred and Opal (Brookshire) Long. He grew up in Wichita, Kansas and attended Plainview High School. On July 17, 1959 he married the love of his life, Sondra "Sandy" Roberts in Wichita, Kansas. The couple made their home in Wichita where they raised their two children. Lee worked for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas for many years. In 1983 the couple moved to Coffeyville, Kansas. Lee was a member of the Dearing Christian Church and the Caney Valley Tractor Association. He enjoyed gardening and selling his produce at the farmers markets. In 2017 Lee participated in 78 local Famers Markets throughout the year. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and watching football. Most of all he loved the time spent surrounded by his family and friends. Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Sandy Long of the home; children, Lorie Isle and husband, Tim, Randy Long and wife, Teresa of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; grandchildren, Melissa Davis of Coffeyville, Kansas, Erin Kaminska and husband, Craig of Havana, Kansas, Nick Isle and wife, Lori of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Joey Isle and wife, Jessica of Coffeyville, Kansas, Keith Towry and wife, Amy of San Diego, California; eleven great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Nicholson of Wichita, Kansas, Jana Isle and husband, Mike of Coffeyville, Kansas; brother, Leslie Long and wife, Terri of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Opal Long; sister, Phyllis Lewis; brother, Freddy Long and a great grandson, Kasen Isle. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Dearing Christian Church in Dearing, Kansas with Pastor Jamie Regis officiating. Burial will follow at the Fawn Creek Cemetery located northeast of Tyro, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. Family will greet friends Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the Dearing Christian Church; these may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W.
