Helen Tresa Miranda, 93, of Coffeyville, passed away Saturday (June 16, 2007) at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
She was born January 11, 1914 at Dewey, Oklahoma to Bartolo and Soledad (Dominguez) Magana. She grew up and attended school in Dewey.
In May 1936, she married Santos H. Miranda in St. John's Catholic Church at Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville.
Mr. Miranda preceded her in death on January 13, 1994.
Mrs. Miranda was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church; Holy Name Altar Society St. Rita's Circle, the Legion of Mary and enjoyed quilting.
Survivors include two sons, Tony (Marsha) Miranda of LaPine, Oregon, and Jess (Jean) Miranda of Coffeyville; four daughters, Mary Hobbs of Coffeyville, Frances (Ted) Perez of Portland, Oregon, Rita (Bob) Garber of Haltom City, Texas, and Patricia (Rod) Riley of Emporia, Kansas; 14 grandchildren, Sue Relph, Andy and Jacque Hobbs, Debra Hobbs, Gena and Kevin Schockey, Eddie and Lisa Perez, Teresa Perez, Richard Perez, Tony Miranda, Jr., Nicklos Miranda, Chris and Melissa Miranda, Amanda Garber, Travis Riley, Jesse and Erin Riley, Mary Kate and John West; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and one sister.
A Rosary Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday (June 21, 2007) at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday (June 22, 2007) at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Jerome Spexarth officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials to Holy Name Catholic School; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
