Obituary of Donald J. Hoggatt
Donald Jack Hoggatt, 68, of Coffeyville passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018, at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK.
He was born March 27, 1949, at Oswego, KS to Harley Jack and Naomi Lee (Smith) Hoggatt. Don grew up and attended Clymore Elementary School northeast of Coffeyville and graduated from Labette County High School in Altamont.
On June 29, 1967, he married Michaelle C. Moses at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where Don was a mechanic at Bill Crow Volkswagon. He later worked as a machinist at Dixon Industries and SEKTAM in Coffeyville until retiring. His wife preceded him in death on June 17, 2008.
Don was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #991 and was a lifetime member of NRA. For several years he called Bingo on Monday nights at Holy Name, and mowed at Calvary Cemetery in the summer. He enjoyed target shooting and auto racing but his greatest joy was spending time with his family especially his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, David Hoggatt of Coffeyville, Kevin Hoggatt and wife, Kasey of Coffeyville, and Donnie Hoggatt and wife, Emmalee of Independence; one daughter, Brittany Hoggatt and Nathan Rail of Cherryvale; his mother, Naomi Hoggatt of Coffeyville; one sister, Patricia Warren of Coffeyville; six grandchildren, Raisa Hoggatt, Larson Hoggatt, Audrey Hoggatt, Alyssa Hoggatt, Ashlee Hoggatt, and Genevieve Rail; and best friend, Linda Welden of Coffeyville.
A Rosary Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Holy Name Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Daniel Lorimer officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home.
