Obituary of Sigrid Maria Nodine
Sigrid Maria Thiel Nodine, 76 of Coffeyville, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018 at her home.
She was born on May 20, 1941 at Nassau, West Germany to Adolf Karl Wilhelm Erich Thiel and Margrit Anna Pauline Emelie (Richtbeg) Thiel. When she was young her family moved to Wiesbaden, Germany where she grew up and graduated from high school.
In January 1958, she married Kenneth D. Nodine at Wiesbaden, Germany, shortly after their marriage they moved to the United States when her husband was transferred to Ft. Sill, OK where they began their family. In 1961 they moved to El Paso, TX, in 1963 they returned to Germany stationed at Nuremberg until 1966 when they returned to Ft. Sill, OK, in 1970 they were transferred to Bad Kreuznach, Germany until 1973 when they moved to Ft. Hood, TX. After her husband retired from the U.S. Army in 1975 they moved to Tampa, FL where the couple later divorced but remained lifelong friends.
Sigrid was employed as a receptionist at Sypris Electronics in Tampa, FL for 30 years until retiring in 2011, in 2013 she moved to Coffeyville to be closer to her daughters. She was an avid reader and enjoyed studying different cultures of the world; she also enjoyed gardening, and crossword puzzles. She loved to watch birds and all animals and really, anything wildlife related. But her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Margrit Nodine, Sharon Adamson, and Monika Myers all of Coffeyville; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; also, many nieces and nephews, both in Germany and throughout the United States.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Peter Thiel and Uli Thiel; one sister, Gisela Doyle; and one son-in-law, Michael C. Adamson.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. Burial will be Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday, February 23rd from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m.to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
