Obituary of Julia May Smith
Julia May Smith, 84, of South Coffeyville, OK passed away Sunday, February 11. 2018 at Journey Home in Bartlesville, OK.
She was born on May 19, 1933 in Coffeyville, KS to Shelley K. and Julia May (Knisley) Smith. Julia grew up in rural South Coffeyville and attended school at Lenapah, OK.
She was employed as an Inspector at Halliburton in Coffeyville and later at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons where she worked until retiring.
Julia enjoyed attending the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville and the Tri M Sunday School Class with her sister. She enjoyed horseback riding and loved caring for horses.
Survivors include her sister Joyce Banta and husband Michael A. of Coffeyville; nephews, Michael Banta, Mark Banta, Bob Maggard, Ronnie Maggard, Dean Maggard, Darrell Maggard, Larry Smith, Jerold Smith, Charles Smith, and George Smith; and nieces, Patsy Brooks and Shelley Maggard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Shelley William Smith and Anzel Eugene Smith; and one sister, Peggy Lorene Lundberg.
A Memorial Service celebrating Julia’s life will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville with Pastor Nicole Schwartz-Eck officiating.
Friends may sign the register book on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
