Obituary of Truman Eugene Rex

Truman “Gene” Eugene Rex, 71, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at CRMC. 

Gene was born on September 5, 1946 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Herman and Agnes (Cortner) Rex. He grew up in Dewey, Oklahoma where he went to school. As a teenager and young adult he was a farm hand for family in Labette County. In traveling back and forth he met the love of his life, Debbie A. Miller. The couple was united in marriage on September 11, 1981 in Coffeyville, Kansas where they made their home. Gene worked for Acme Foundry and later worked at Morrow Foundry. 

He enjoyed camping, fishing, going to the casino, attending the annual Interstate Fair and Rodeo every year and most of all spending time surrounded by his family and friends. 

Surviving to honor his memory are his loving wife, Debbie of the home; children, Truman C. Rex, Edith (Tom) Wilson, Christy Rex all of Coffeyville, Kansas; Thomas (Nicki) Rex of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Candi Wilson, Brittney Wilson (Demonse Malone), Sarah Hannah, Mariah Wilson, Teon Rex, Nathan Rex and Natalie Rex; great grandchildren, Annalee Toner, December and Demonse Malone, Jr., Leah and Autumn Bell and C.J. North. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Truman and Agnes Rex; brother, Bob Rex; sister, Rose Ellen Jones; an infant daughter Rosiepauline Rex and son, Billy Rex.

Graveside Services will be held on Monday, March 5, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Spring Hill Cemetery north of Coffeyville, Kansas. Pastor Kevin O’Conner will officiate. 

Friends may call on Sunday, March 4, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. to sign the guest register at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
