Obituary of Vertis Dean Roberts
Vertis Dean "Deano" Roberts, Sr., 84 of Richmond, MO and formerly of Coffeyville, KS died Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at his home.
"Deano" was born on July 10, 1933 in Wann, OK to John C. and Ruby Roberts.
Survivors include; three sons, Jeff Roberts of Richmond, Gary Roberts of Kansas City, MO and Kevin Robert of Roeland Park, MO; one daughter, Sheila Harding of Merriam, KS; one brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Cathy Roberts of OK; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Betty Paul of Independence, MO and Zella and Roy Olson of Porter, IN; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, "Deano" was preceded in death by one son, Dean Roberts, Jr., two brothers, John Ward and Duke Roberts; and two sisters, LaVelma Roberts and Virginia Perkins.
"Deano" was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post #327 and Lions Club in Shawnee, KS. He was a truck driver for Duff-Reff Furniture Company for several years. He also was owner and operator of Roberts Pest Control. He lived in Shawnee, KS before moving to Richmond in 2006. "Deano" was of the Baptist faith.
Graveside Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville. Military Honors will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20.
Friends may call on Monday, April 9th from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday April 10th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
