Obituary of Patricia L. Maples

Patricia L. “Patti” Maples. 75, of Coffeyville passed away Sunday, May 5, 2018 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.

She was born on September 7, 1942 at Coffeyville to Virgil and Lois (Truax) Scott. Patti grew up and attended school in Coffeyville graduating from Field Kindley High School, she also attended Coffeyville Junior College.

On November 25, 1961 she married Ronald E. Maples at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their two children. Her husband preceded her in death on April 17, 2009.

She worked in retail most of her career, working at J.C. Penney’s, Country Mart and Braum’s until becoming ill in April.

Patti was a member of the Christian Church. She enjoyed gardening, mowing her lawn and loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Scott Maples and wife Deborah and Susan Ballew and husband Bob all of Coffeyville; two brothers, Frank Scott of Grandview, MO and Bill Scott of Indianapolis, IN; her grandchildren, Sarah Reese and husband, Matt, Jeyree Drury and husband Shane, Amanda Lamb and husband Brett, and Justin Ballew; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Lois Scott; her husband, Ronald E. “Ron” Maples; and great-grandson, Max Reese.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Jamie Regis officiating.

Friends may call on Wednesday, April 9, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to the Make A Wish Foundation; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
