Robert Dean Nutter, 84, of Wichita, formerly of Dearing, KS, passed away Wednesday (May 30, 2007) in Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
He was born September 10, 1922 in Peru, KS to Ira and Mary Ann (Thompson) Nutter. He attended elementary school in Peru and Sedan, his family later moved to Neodesha where he completed his education graduating from Neodesha High School.
He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
On May 1, 1946 he married Naomi Brown at Dearing, KS. Following their marriage they made their home in the Dearing until moving to Wichita in the early 1950's. Mr. Nutter was a salesman for Christopher Steel for many years until retiring in 1983. Mrs. Nutter preceded him in death on November 12, 1999.
Mr. Nutter was a member of the Riverlawn Christian Church in Wichita, and belonged to the Ky-O-Tee Camping Club for many years. He enjoyed fishing and camping.
Survivors include one son, Marvin Nutter of Denver, CO; two daughters, Jana Campbell of Wichita, KS, and Barbara Tatro of Edmond, OK; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, seven brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (June 2, 2007) in the Dearing Christian Church in Dearing, KS. Burial will follow in Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville, KS.
Friends may call on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
