Obituary of Dorothy Irene Conaway

Dorothy Irene (Brown) Conaway age 71 of Peru, Kansas passed away at her home on June 2, 2018.

Dorothy was born in Peru, Kansas to Dawson and Edith (Lumley) Brown on September 3, 1946. Dorothy attended Peru schools and later obtained her GED. Dorothy married Gary Smylie in 1963, and to this union 5 children were born. The couple later divorced.

Dorothy married Bob Conaway in 1988. She worked various jobs over the years to support her children until retiring in 2005. Dorothy was a wonderful mother, an amazing grandmother, mother in law, daughter, sibling and friend. She was a fabulous cook and canner and she loved to spend time with her family.

Dorothy will be fondly remembered and forever loved by her five children, Gary Smylie and wife, Debbie of Idaho Falls. ID, Darren Smylie and wife, Ranee of Sedan, KS, Brian Smylie and wife, Heather of Sedan, KS, Mike Smylie and wife, Carla of Liberty, KS and Sheri Smylie of Peru, KS; three siblings, Raymond Brown of Sedan, KS, Fern Flynt and husband, Robert of Bowring, OK, Edward Brown and wife, Pat of Coffeyville, KS; fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; parents; two brothers, John and William and one sister, RoseMary.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Assembly of God Church in Sedan, Kansas on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Paul Stetz will officiate. A private family inurnment will follow.
