Obituary of James Norman Hartley

James Norman Hartley, 71, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away at his home on Thursday, June 7, 2018. James was born on October 8, 1946 in Coffeyville, Kansas to James C. and Evelyn (Bales) Hartley. He grew up in Coffeyville where he earned his high school education. James worked in the Oil Fields as a laborer for many years. He owned and operated the Strike 3 Bar in downtown Coffeyville and worked at the 14th Street Bar. James worked for the Coffeyville Recreation Center as an umpire for many years, for Walmart, security at CRMC and as a driver for Comforting Angels. James was a life long member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Cody, Wyoming. He liked to fish and shoot pool. Most of all he loved the time he spent surrounded by his family and friends. Surviving to honor his memory is his wife of 23 years, Cindy (South) Hartley; sons, Dale Hartley and wife, Leta of Liberty, Illinois, Mathew Hartley of Liberty, Illinois; daughter, Lauri Austin and husband, John of Coffeyville, Kansas; grandchildren, Ricky Lish and wife, Heather, Brandon Lish and wife, Jennifer, Rachel Summers and husband, Jason, Douglas Hartley and wife, Teal, Andrew South, Latrina Gingery and husband, Clinton, Jordan Hartley; thirteen great grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Hartley of Rockford, Illinois, Penny Rexwinkle and husband, Joe of Edna, Kansas. James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Evelyn Hartley and a sister, Helen "Frankie" Kuehn. Following James' wishes, cremations has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will hold a private family memorial service at a later date.
