Obituary of Granton Corbett Johnson
Granton Corbett Johnson, 20, of Coffeyville formerly of Neodesha passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018.
He was born on July 19, 1997 at Joplin, Missouri to Steve D. and Angela Diane (Palmer) Johnson. Granton spent his early years in Carthage, Missouri where he started grade school. His family moved to Peachtree City, Georgia where he attended school until moving to Neodesha, Kansas where he graduated from Neodesha High School. Granton loved baseball and running and was a member of the Neodesha Blue Streaks baseball and cross country teams. Following high school he attended Coffeyville Community College where he was the Red Raven Mascot.
While being the mascot he met Ashley King in September 2015 and in August of 2017 they welcomed their son Brentlee Dean Johnson into their lives.
While living in Neodesha he attended Christ Church. He enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, and University of Texas football. But his greatest love was spending time with his son Brentlee.
Survivors include his son, Brentlee Dean Johnson of Coffeyville; his mother, Angela Keath of Coffeyville; his father, Steve D. Johnson of Peachtree City, Georgia; one sister, Madison Johnson of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; three brothers, Samuel Johnson, Matthew Johnson, and Andrew Johnson all of Peachtree City, Georgia; his grandmother, Karen Thomas and husband, Harry of Coffeyville; his grandfather, Lee Palmer and wife, Paula of Edna, Kansas. He is also survived by step-mother, Missy Brazier of Peachtree City, Georgia; step-sister, Kelsi Keath of Pittsburg, Kansas; step-brother, Kyle Keath of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; step-grandparents, Bud and Linda Brazier of Licking, Missouri along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Melvin Johnson; and grandmother, Harriett Newwbern.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Coffeyville First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Ford Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to a fund established for his son, Brentlee Dean Johnson; contributions can be left with or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
