Obituary of Carolyn Sue Pope
Carolyn Sue Pope age 77 of Coffeyville, KS gained her wings on Thursday, August 2, 2018, with her family by her side.
Carolyn was born on March 23, 1941, in Coffeyville, KS to Lawrence "Bud" and Ruby (Jamison)
Kaufman. She grew up in Coffeyville where she attended Robbins School and Field Kindley High School.
On March 23, 1966, she married John Pope in Miami, OK. They made their home in Coffeyville. From this union three children were born - Becky Sue, Randy D, and Ricky Allen. They later divorced.
Carolyn worked at many businesses in the Coffeyville area but enjoyed working Home Health Care services.
She was a member of the SOS and Women's Circle at the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville and was Madam President on the London and Cambridge Activity Boards at Windsor Place.
Carolyn enjoyed collecting snowmen and the Pillsbury Dough Boy. She loved playing bingo and spending time with her family; especially the grandkids and great grandkids as she was known as Gma Honey. She was always willing to help and had a very kind and loving heart, with her dimple and her smile, she will be missed by many.
Survivors include her daughter, Becky and Rick Crain of Battlefield, MO; two sons, Randy and Cassie Pope of Coffeyville, Ricky Pope of Coffeyville; grandchildren, Brandy Pope and Jeremy Gillispie of Chelsea, OK, LaShawnda and Grant Oglesby of Odessa, TX, Samantha Duden-Holliday of Battlefield, MO, Brock Pope of Los Angeles, CA, Tyler Pope of Coffeyville, KS and Laci Pope of Newton, KS; great grandchildren, Sarah, Adam, Cadance, Ethan, Spencer, Rayson, Klaire; sisters, Joy Wittner of Enumclaw, WA, Ruth Griffin of Springfield, MO; many nieces, nephews and a dear friend, Fern McDaniels along with the London Unit staff at Windsor Place that she thought of as family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Ruby Kaufman; two sons, Danny and Tony Pope; grandson, Zachary; granddaughter, Ashley; brother, Clark Kaufman and four sisters, Genievie Dixon, Dorthy Nowadzy, Fern Henson, June Burdick.
Friends may call on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville to sign the guest register. The family will greet friends Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville, Kansas. Chaplain Mike Graham will officiate. Interment will follow at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville, Kansas.
The family suggests memorials to Autism Awareness or Children of Wounded Warriors; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
