Obituary of Robert G Mecum
Robert G. "Bob" Mecum, 83, of Coffeyville passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
He was born on July 17, 1935 at Coffeyville to Ralph and Mildred (Tyler) Mecum. Bob grew up in Coffeyville attending Whittier School, Roosevelt Junior High School, and graduated from Field Kindley High School.
Bob was a skilled tool and die maker working in Kansas and Oklahoma before returning to Coffeyville to work at Morrow Foundry where he was employed until his retirement.
On September 9, 1969 he married Sharon Samuel at Hutchinson, KS.
Bob was an avid fisherman and hunter, he loved all things outdoors, and was an avid Cardinals fan. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandsons, Jesse, Jordan, Tyler, Trevor, Michael; and his extended family and friends.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Sharon of the home; son, Robert Douglas Mecum and wife, Barb of Alaska; daughter, Darla Yvonne Wilde and husband, Kendell of Texas; seven Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ralph Jr, and his sister's Maggie and Shirley.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the Fairview Cemetery Veterans Memorial Patio. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Bob would be honored to have donations made to the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center Foundation; contributions may be left at the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
His greatest wish would be for all to remember him as the funny and loving man that he was.
