Obituary of Jayne Irene Dodder

Jayne Irene (Wiley) Dodder, age 92, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018 in Topeka, Kansas. She was born May 26, 1926 in Coffeyville, Kansas, the daughter of Veryl Otis Wiley and Nan (Myrtle) Heilemann Wiley. She attended school in Coffeyville until 1937 when her family moved to Topeka, Kansas. In 1938 the family moved to California, living in Long Beach and Lakewood, until returning to Coffeyville in 1941. She attended Field Kindley High School where she was Editor of the 1943 yearbook, the Twister, on the Tornado Times newspaper staff, a member of the Tornado Tillies, and a member of Student Council, graduating in 1943. Following graduation she attended Kansas State University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She married Lt. Paul Dodder of the United States Army Air Corps, on March 24, 1945, having met him when he was stationed at the local air base. Following his graduation from Kansas State University after the war, the family lived in Manhattan, Kansas and Enid, Oklahoma, and from 1964 to 1992 lived in Emporia, Kansas where she was an officer and branch manager for Lyon County State Bank for 20 years, until her retirement in 1985. In 1992 she and her husband returned to Coffeyville to make their home. Jayne was a member of Delta Delta Delta alumna, P.E.O., Chapter EZ in Coffeyville, P.E.O. Chapter DN in Topeka, member and past president of Research Study Club, Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, past president of the Board of Trustees of the Coffeyville Public Library, and member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she had been baptized as an infant. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Dodder; parents, Veryl and Nan Wiley and brother, John Kendall Wiley. She is survived by her daughter, Terri Kaye Warrem and husband, Calvin Warrem of Topeka, Kansas; son, Steve H. Dodder and wife, Nancy Dodder of Sun City, Arizona; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville, Kansas. Pastor Diane Massey will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville. Friends may call on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville to sign the guest register from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials can be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville or to the charity of the donor's choice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W.
