Obituary of John Thomas Morgan

John Thomas Morgan, 77, of Coffeyville, Kansas entered into rest in paradise with his beloved Savior and Lord on Monday, August 27, 2018 at his home. John was born on December 1, 1940 in Peru, Kansas to John W. and Lela O. (Artherton) Morgan. John grew up in Peru where he attended Peru High School and graduated as Valedictorian of his class in 1958. Following high school John served his country in the United States Army. After three years of service he was honorably discharged. Upon returning from service, John furthered his education at Coffeyville Community College where he earned his Associate Degree. John worked various jobs over the years starting with Cities Service Oil Company, (Citgo), and Olin Dixon Aircraft Industry and was proficient in I.B.M. commercial computers. He was the owner of many residential rental houses and apartments as well. John loved to hunt, fish, bowl and visit was family and friends. Most of all he loved being with his many canine friends throughout his lifetime and had a great compassion for man's known companion from more than 30,000 years ago. He was married twice and from the second marriage his son, Barry L. (Karen) Morgan was born. He survives to honor John's memory along with a brother, Charles "Bud" (Judy) Morgan of Spring Branch, Texas; a sister, Carolyn Johnson of Yellville, Arkansas; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Following John's wishes, cremation has taken place and no public services are scheduled at this time. "Remember young man, as you are now, so once was I. As I am now, so will you be. Prepare for death and follow me." The family suggests memorials can be made to the Independence, Kansas A.W.O.L. or to the Coffeyville Friends of Animals; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
